Hi everyone, I’m making this post from one of my breakouts in Rotorua. My challenge here was to create a dramatic piece of comic using only a few photos given to me. I chose to attack technology (mainly because the air conditioning isn’t working and its really warm in here and cooler outside!) Also, I thought it was ironic making a comic against technology while I am at a technology conference!
Hope everything is good back at Matapu, looking forward to catching back up with what you have done on Monday. Have a great weekend!
Our new word of the week is impeccable. Have fun creating some interesting sentences with this word this week!! (Mr C’s sentence) There have been a few impeccable samples of handwriting last week.
I am going to be in Rotorua all week this week attending an ICT conference, so I’ll be learning some neat new things to show you in the classroom over the next couple of terms. So enjoy having Mrs Stewart in Room 1 this week and I look forward to seeing you all next Monday.
THE BRAINTEASER
This is the brainteaser that we have discussed in class. First correct answer gets 200 HPS and $20MM. What type of food do you throw away the outside, cook the inside, eat the outside then throw away the inside?
Click on FOUR of the people you want to be as our School Councillors for 2009. Make sure you only pick FOUR names, then click VOTE.
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!
These are snapshots of the power points that Room 1 have recently completed that involved a variety of different activities based on our school. Unfortunately I had to cut a chunk from how they were actually presented in their power points in order to fit them into this blog, but you can get the general idea of the quality of the presentations. Well done everyone!
Word of the week this week is arduous. Post your sentences in this post and remember to get inventive!!
Also, we have been picking animals, vehicles and colours that best fit our personalities the last couple of days, so I’ll give you an opportunity to pick one of those that suites ME!!! (Mr C) Best answer gets 100 house points AND $20MM. Make sure you justify your choice of animal, vehicle or colour.
A HUGE congratulations to our year sixes from last year with regards to their video entry in The Outlook for Someday’s sustainability competition. We spent the last term of Fridays preparing our video for this entry and I have posted it for your viewing pleasure on the sidebar of our blog (sorry that it may take a bit for those on dial-up to download). We didn’t quite make the top 20, but the judges gave us a highly commended placing, with 9 other videos which is a SUPER effort for our first attempt!
Righto, some good sentences with our last word of the week (myriad). Your new Word of the Week sentences can be made on this post. Your week 2 Word of the Week is pedestrian. And remember, it’s not the walking pedestrian!! It has been a couple of pretty hectic weeks so far, keep working on those theme Thinkers Keys and I have been really impressed with the quality of your handwriting. I might put some samples on here next week.
Some photos for our blog header would be great!! Also, don’t forget about our house name/emblem competition. That finishes on Friday.
Great start to the week Room 1. These are some of the neat pieces of writing you have created while trying to include our five senses and what we were thinking/feeling at the time. Logan’s is on the left and Alyx’s is on the right. Great detail you two, well done!!
Great first day Room 1. You guys did really well researching your Halberg Teams today, and don’t be too frustrated if you didn’t find too much information, we will be working on improving that this year. Here is your first bit of homework on the blog, or…”blogwork”. Tomorrow you will be getting your word of the week and we will be talking about it in the morning. Your job is to come onto this blog and post a sentence with the word in it. I will give $5MM to the best sentence. Good luck! Word of the Week:Myriad
In case you have forgotten the problem from today, see if you (or your parents) can solve this…
23 P of C in the H B
Many of you may remember our cake poll, and this is the update of how the poll is going. I have left it open for a bit longer to see if the left cake can sneak past, it looks a tight battle!! The seniors also conducted two other polls on what we are having for breakfast and dinner and I was shocked at the results of breakfast!! Make sure you get something in your bellies before you come to school!!!!
Also, keep an eye out for our podcasts coming up. There will be some neat pieces of work to go on within the first few weeks back at school.
