What is it about sand that is so…so…cool?
What’s happening in the sandpit?
Did MrC lose his contact again? I don’t think so. If I had been two minutes earlier I would have caught even more in the sand. Maybe I should have told them to stop digging when they struck oil?
We hope you agree…it’s great poetry!!!
We have just finished working on some poetry in class. Our goal was to follow a certain rhyming pattern (4224, 4224, 4444) and to come up with some creative things that are a particular colour. Some of the things are quite…bizarre, but definately creative!
Artistic flair
We have done some neat observational drawings of a city landscape created from paper. It appears that some students have a great eye for detail and we learnt that patience is important when adding finishing touches.
Getting ready for calf day
We made quite the mess getting ou stained glad windows and egg carton pets sorted yesterday for calf day, but it was worth it!!! Some of the creations looked spectacular! I loved the penguin fishing and the underwater scene! Congratulations to our students who got placings.

Food pyramid?
Hmmm. It seems some people need a little work with the food pyramid. Which of these two look the most healthy I wonder?
Vaio Drivers
Uh oh… Mr C has lost all the drivers to his computer. Luckily I have found them at this link…

Cooking at Hawera High
Our class recently took a trip to Hawera High to check out their cooking facilities and make some DELICIOUS Anzac bikkies. Big thanks to all those involved and the hospitality of the staff at Hawera High. We all had a great day!
Etymology Test
Here is your Etymology test everyone. Read the answers carefully…
So cool!!! Garden looking great!
I am so impressed with the gardening crew in Room 2! This looks so good and it is really obvious that you guys have put a LOT of work into that area. I know there are a lot of projects on the go at the moment and I was amazed with how organised you are with the seedlings you are growing in the shed. Keep up the great work and I look forward to posting further updates.
Prepping for Production
A small group of Matapu students visited the local theatre recently in the hopes of getting a few technical tips from the pros. We were lucky enough to have experienced director Russel Standing show us the ropes and let us experiment with some lights. We all had a great time and learnt heaps from our experience. Big thanks to Russel for lending us his time, and to the Hawera Memorial Theatre for letting us get a glimpse of what it would be like to be part of a big show.
Great game!
Our bball team had a great game this afternoon. I was really impressed with the hustle we showed today, a huge improvement from last week. With the score at 16-22 I almost thought we were going to pull something off today but we let a few more goals in at the end and lost 16-28.
Great effort team!
Worlds best cauliflower
It IS the worlds best because it’s grown in our very own garden, and we all know that Matapu has the best water and soil in the world!
Champion Hockey Team
Congrats Natarsha for a great effort in helping your team win the Taranaki Women’s Hockey Competition. It was a tight final but they held on in the end. Great result following on from taking our Matapu team to the final in the Bhana Cup.
Ms Hey is the one right on the left in case you weren’t sure!!!
